Shot from the south side at 9am in November, looking up along the suspension framework toward the north tower — the blue-painted steel, the riveted girders, the gilded cross at the top catching what morning light the season allows. Up close the bridge stops being a landmark and becomes a study in structure. The diagonal lines of the cables and walkway converge upward, the honey-coloured Portland stone of the tower rising at the end of them. Built in 1894. Still worth looking at properly.
